House burgled

KOCHI DEC. 2. Electronic goods, gold ornaments and a Maruti 800 car were stolen from a house in Stephen Paduka Road, Konthuruthy that had been locked up for the past one week. The owner of the house, Usha Devarajan (53), found on her return on Thursday morning that the house had been broken into. A case has been registered by the South police.

Vypeen buses

The area adjacent to the Asoka flats, near the Kerala High Court, has been allotted for parking buses that come from Vypeen. The Vypeen block panchayat president, C. M. Devassy, said that five buses could be parked at a time in the area.

Book fair

The Eight International Book Fair will begin on Friday with the Governor, R. L. Bhatia, inaugurating the event at Ernakulathappan Grounds at 4 p.m. The book fair will have 180 stalls featuring leading national and international publishers. It will be there for 10 days.

Speed Post

As part of the expansion of the Speed Post service,the facility for booking Speed Post articles is being extended to the post offices at Kaloor, Panampilly Nagar, Shanmugham Road, Vyttila and Kakkanad also.

Get-together

A get-together of all old students of the Government Polytechnic, Kalamassery, including part-time students, will be held at the college on December 4.

Road closed

Traffic between Petta and Vyttila will be diverted through the NH-bypass from December 3 to 18 due to road tarring work, according to the assistant executive engineer.

Essay contest

The last date for sending entries for the essay competition for college students and Government employees in connection with the 100-days action plan of the State Government has been extended till December 8.

CBSE schools

A meeting of the CBSE school managements to be held on Saturday at the Kerala CBSE School Managements Association office at Penta Towers, Kaloor will prepare a plan for resisting hartals and bandhs affecting the education sector in the State.
