BANGALORE, DEC. 2. A man was injured and nine autorickshaws were damaged during a clash between two communities in Gopalapura in Magadi Road Police Station limits on Wednesday. The Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), H.T. Kishorechandra, said that a drunken brawl between two groups took a communal turn. Around 11 p.m., people belonging to a particular community assaulted a man from another community, injuring him in the head. Following this, a group of people went on the rampage and damaged the autorickshaws, he said. The police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Additional forces have been deployed in Gopalapura. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), K.V. Sharathchandra, visited the area. The Magadi Road Police have registered cases of assault and rioting.
