NEW DELHI, DEC. 2. A Bangladeshi national, who allegedly committed theft along with his accomplices, was arrested following a tip-off by a security guard deployed at Vasant Kunj in South-West Delhi this Wednesday. The police have launched a hunt for his four other accomplices. The accused, identified as Mohammad Jamal from Bangladesh, was spotted one morning by the security guard while he was taking a stroll in the Vasant Kunj area under suspicious circumstances. The security guard informed the Resident Welfare Association members about it, who in turn alerted the local police for necessary action. On Wednesday, the police rounded up the suspect, Jamal. During interrogation, he revealed that he was from Bangladesh and used to commit thefts. Jamal disclosed that he frequently shifted his residence to evade detection. At present, he had taken a house on rent at Kishan Garh. The police said Jamal used to steal household goods and generators installed outside the houses. On the basis of his disclosures, the police have arrested him and traced at least three cases of theft in which he was involved. "Jamal's arrest shows that people are now coming forward to help the police in combating criminal elements. With their help, it will be much easier for us to curb incidents of crime," said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West Delhi), Deependra Pathak.
