KOLAR, DEC. 3. The National Student Union of India (NSUI), Kolar district unit, has taken exception to private tuitions being conducted by government teachers and lecturers. A delegation of the NSUI met the Kolar Deputy Commissioner on Wednesday under the leadership of M. Gopala Gowda, President of the district unit of NSUI, and sought a ban on such private tuitions. The delegation alleged that private tuitions had given rise to incidents of teachers sexually harassing their students. The delegation also alleged that teachers often pressured students to attend tuitions for a hefty fee. The delegation in its memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner said it was illegal on the part of the government teachers and lecturers to conduct private tuitions and the district administration should put an end to this practise.
