Media function

Sir, — This is with reference to your article "Without fear or favour" (Nov. 30). Pilger is right when he says: "It is the function of experts and the mainstream media to normalise the unthinkable for the general public." Journalists who are constantly caught in a dilemma regarding the ethical ramifications of their reporting would do well to recognise and imbibe this idea.
