KASARAGOD, DEC. 3. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) former president M. Venkaiah Naidu has alleged that governance has come to a standstill in the State with the official machinery fully engaged in the protection of a `tainted' Minister. Inaugurating a Dharma Raksha Yatra led by the BJP leader O. Rajagopal here this morning, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu said the Congress and the Indian Union Muslim League to which the Minister belonged were responsible for the worsening situation in the State. The yatra is to make the people aware of the inaction of the Government. Speaking on the occasion, the party State president, P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, demanded that besides the Kozhikode ice-cream parlour sex scandal, assets amassed by IUML Ministers disproportionate to their known sources of income also be probed. The inquiry should cover their wealth in benami names as well.
