THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC. 3. The All Kerala Video Library Owners Association organised a dharna before the Secretariat today demanding the Government's urgent intervention to protect the interests of around 1.5 lakh families who depend on video libraries for their livelihood. The leaders of the association charged the authorities with harassing innocent persons as part of their drive against pirated CDs. They said the price of master CDs ranged from Rs. 200 to Rs. 500. As lending them was not a feasible proposition, it was copies of the master CDs that the libraries supplied to their customers. While the authorities cracked down on them, those who were taking copies of the latest films and were selling them were getting away scot-free, they said.
