Azhikode ready to accept award

THRISSUR,
DEC. 3.
Sukumar Azhikode, social critic and writer, has expressed his willingness to accept the Ezuthachan Puraskaram from the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, following the latter's letter to him.
In a statement issued here today, Prof. Azhikode said he had earlier decided not to accept the award, as Mr. Chandy had not replied to a joint letter written by him along with the jurist V.R. Krishna Iyer on the alleged irregularities in the construction of a building near the jail in Kozhikode. "The intention was to inform the Chief Minister of our protest (against irregularities in the building construction) based on the information available to us."
