HYDERABAD, DEC. 3. Hyderabad is in an upbeat mood as it prepares to take on Baroda in the Ranji Trophy Elite group B match at the Gymkhana grounds from Saturday. The reason is not hard to find. In its previous match against Maharashtra, things had gone very well for Hyderabad and memories of the disastrous first outing against Tamil Nadu have been left behind. But the factor that Hyderabad will have to guard against is complacency and inconsistency, which has sometimes led to be the downfall of this otherwise talented side. Not only in batting and bowling but in fielding also what Hyderabad will be looking for is more focus and more commitment in order to keep up the momentum that was provided by the good performances of the previous match. Against a rival like Baroda even one or two dropped catches could spoil all the good work done with the bat or ball.
Encouraging factor
The encouraging factor for Hyderabad is that some of the youngsters in the side have done well and hold out promise of better things to come. Shashank Nag did well with the bat and so did seam bowler Fahad Shahnawaz. Anirudh Singh showed that he is in good nick with his century and it is high time A. T. Rayudu came up with a big knock because a player of his talent is unlikely to be kept in check for long. In the previous match Narenderpal Singh proved that he is still a dangerous new ball bowler and is capable of posing problems for rival batsmen.
