Meet on healthcare

NEW DELHI DEC. 3. The National Association of Reproductive and Child Health of India (NARCHI), Delhi Branch, with its secretariat at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital is organising the 14th Annual Conference here in the Capital on December 4 and 5. Starting with the pre-congress at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on December 4, the annual congress will be held at Hotel Ashok on December 5. The theme of this year's conference is "Women Empowerment". The Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, will be the chief guest on December 5.

Work on Rajiv Bhavan begins

NEW DELHI DEC. 3. The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president, Ram Babu Sharma, today asserted that the DPCC office complex -- to be named "Rajiv Bhavan" -- at 2 Rouse Avenue would be completed within a year.

Mr. Sharma stated this after the All India Congress Committee general secretary (in-charge of Delhi), Ashok Gehlot, started the construction work at the site.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Gehlot, said the Rajiv Bhavan was being built with full support, help and cooperation of the Congress workers of Delhi and exhorted the workers to spare no efforts to ensure completion of the project on time. Calling upon the workers to extend their fullest cooperation for the project, Mr. Sharma expressed the hope that the work on Rajiv Bhavan would be completed within the stipulated period and the DPCC would carry out the programmes and policies spelt out by the Congress President, Sonia Gandhi, in right earnest.

Focus on globalisation

NEW DELHI DEC. 3. Augusto Lopez Claros, Chief Economist of the World Economic Forum and Director of the Forum's Global Competitiveness Programme, will be speaking at the Bahá'í House of Worship here on Saturday at 6-30 p.m. on the topic "Coping with the challenges of Globalisation".

Prior to joining the Forum, Dr. Lopez Claros was the Executive Director and Senior International Economist with Lehman Brothers in London and he also worked with the International Monetary Fund in Washington.

Spreading AIDS awareness

NEW DELHI DEC. 3. To spread awareness about AIDS, the Delhi Public School, Dadri, organised a campaign titled "Jagrit" in the NTPC township at Vidyutnagar. The school children also marked World AIDS Day on Dec 1 by organising various awareness events besides taking out a candle light march asking people to come forward and join the movement against the disease. Speaking on the occasion, the school principal, Kamini Bhasin, said the school would carry forward the efforts made by the DPS Society chairman, Narendra Kumar, in spreading awareness about AIDS.
