MANGALORE, DEC. 3. The residents of Kodipady in Surathkal division of the Mangalore City Corporation have opposed the establishment of a sewage treatment plant at Kodipady. Venu Vinod Shetty, Jana Hitarakshana Vedike president, said the plant had been planned to be set up at the thickly populated village known for its scenic beauty. Mostly working-class people lived in the village. Mr. Shetty said it had been planned to allow the treated water to flow into the Nandini river. But the river changed its course during the high tide, when water entered the nearby temples. If the polluted water were to be let into the river, there was no doubt that the temples would be polluted.
