Applications invited

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC. 3. Applications are invited for a five-week digital still photography course conducted by the Centre for Development of Imaging Technology. Candidates who have passed the Plus Two or its equivalent can apply. For candidates with SSLC as qualification a three-year experience in still photography is required. The course fee is Rs. 6,000. The candidates are required to pay Rs. 1,000 as deposit at the time of admission. Prospectus and application forms will be available free of cost at the centre's Thiruvallam and Statue office. Application forms can also be obtained by sending a self-addressed envelope to the director, C-Dit, Chitranjali hills, Tiruvallam. Filled in application forms along with a demand draft of Rs 50 drawn in favour of the Registrar, C-Dit should reach the course director before December 15. Demonstration held

The Association of Kerala Government College Teachers today held a demonstration on Arts College campus in protest against the arrest of the students who came to write examinations at the college on Thursday. The association members said that the police broke open the gates and barged into the campus and arrested the students who were inside the examination hall and library. They also objected to the alleged remark made by the DIG that institutions like University College and Arts College have become a nest for anti-social activities in the city. The remark does not behove an officer of the DIG's stature, said J. Prasad, general secretary of the association.

Grant to be used

A Central grant worth Rs. 3 crores will be utilised for the welfare of handicapped persons in the State, said Abdulla Sona, managing director, Kerala State Handicapped Persons' Welfare Corporation. He was speaking at the Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for Handicapped on the occasion of World Disabled Day today. Efforts will be taken to give the money for the welfare of the handicapped by December 17, Mr. Sona said.

Scholarship

The Gatson Foundation, Zurich, is offering scholarships for students interested in studying postgraduate programmes in hospitality management in Switzerland. The scholarship amount of Rs. 2,75,000 will be given in two instalments - at the time of joining the course and after completion of the first semester.
