Final voter list for civic polls ready

PONDICHERRY, DEC. 4. The State Election Commission has prepared final voter list at the end of processing of applications received from the voters staking claims and registering objections in the wake of publication of the draft rolls of voters.

A release from the State Election Commissioner (SEC), R. Narayana, said that the Commission had prepared earlier the draft rolls in the context of the civic polls on the basis of the voters lists of the Assembly constituencies. Claims and objections were received between October 21 and November 6 for updating the lists. The Electoral Registration Officers perused and processed all the applications and finalised the lists.

In the first phase the Commission has now brought out the final voter list relating to 10 Commune panchayats (five each in Pondicherry and Karaikal regions), which project a total voter strength in these ten commune panchayats at 2,70,195 (of whom 1,32,872 are men voters and 1,37,323 women voters). These lists would be displayed for public viewing at the respective commune panchayats on December 6.

The final list shows that women voters outnumber men in these ten commune panchayats by 4,451.

Following are the details of the voters of the ten commune panchayats.

Pondicherry region: Ariankuppam: 38,159 (18,901 men and 19,258 women voters).

Bahoor: 38,292 (18,718 and 19,574), Mannadipet: 42,385 (20,797 and 21,588)

Nettapakkam: 27,576 (13,526 and 14,050) and Villianoor: 61,258 (30,297 and 30,961).

Karaikal region: Kottuchery: 11,296 (5636 men and 5660 women voters).

Neduncadu : 10,194 (5030 and 5164).

Neravy: 7246 (3532 and 3714), T R Pattinam: 11,816 (5743 and 6073) and Tirunallar: 21,973 (10,692 and 11,281).
