GUWAHATI, DEC. 4. A visiting Cuban team today urged the students, teachers and employees of the Gauhati University to fight imperialism and shared with them the experience of the Cuban people in resisting U.S. imperialism for the last four decades. The two-member team comprisingthe Head of the Department of Education and Culture of the Cuban Communist Party, Pablu Bakalu Infanta, and the head of the Cuban Institute of Friendship among People, Juan Pujo Alvarej, was given a rousing reception by students and faculty members of the University. Addressing a meeting at the University, Prof. Infanta spoke of how Cuba has ensured social security despite economic blockades and embargos by the U.S. He also highlighted Cuba's achievement in education, health and other social sectors. The meet was jointly organised by the Gauhati University Teachers Association (GUTA), Post-Graduate Students Union (PGSU) and Officers Association of the University. The Cuban delegation was also accorded a warm welcome by the University Vice-Chancellor, G.N. Talukdar.
