The meeting, presided over by the Union Home Secretary, Dhirendra Singh, took note of developments such as peace talks with the naxalite groups in Andhra Pradesh and the unity among the CPI(M-L) People's War and the Maoist Coordination Centre. The growing influence of Maoist rebels in Nepal and its implications in the border States also came up for discussion. The recent naxalite strike at Chandauli in Uttar Pradesh was also discussed.
