JAIPUR, DEC. 4. The Army was put on alert and prohibitory orders under Section 144 Cr.P.C. clamped in Sriganganagar district today as the administration cracked down on farmers agitating in north-west Rajasthan for canal water. Curfew continued in Anupgarh, Rawala and Gharsana towns of the district and no relaxation was given today, said the Bikaner Divisional Commissioner, Srimant Pande, over phone. Taking a tough posture after yesterday's violent protests, the administration arrested top leaders of the Kisan-Mazdoor-Vyapari Sangharsh Samiti, including the former MLA, Hetram Beniwal and the BJP leader, Mohanlal Sharma, who were spearheading the agitation for over two months.
