Shandilya's pat for APBSA

HYDERABAD, DEC. 4. Former World champion Ashok Shandilya expressed confidence the "Andhra Pradesh Billiards & Snooker Association would continue to be a great host as it showed during the wonderfully-organised World billiards championship last year."

Speaking at the inaugural function of the new APBSA hall with four world class tables at the Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy Indoor Stadium (Yousufguda) here, Shandilya appreciated the contribution of the State Association and also sincerely wished that more talent would be unearthed with improved facilities for the players.

Earlier, Dr. Mohan Kanda, Chief Secretary to Government of Andhra Pradesh, who inaugurated the hall lauded the efforts of the APBSA president, Capt. P.V.K. Mohan, in putting Hyderabad on the world billiards map. "The Government will provide all help in the promotion of the sport," he said.

Capt. P.V.K. Mohan, who is also the vice-president of the International Billiards and Snooker Federation, acknowledged the support of the State Government. "We hope the new ambience should inspire many youngsters to take up the sport in a big way," he added.

Ms. Sumita Dawra, VC & MD of SAAP, promised complete support for any steps taken in promoting the sports in the State.
