Knocking at TDP door for help
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD,
DEC. 4.
The Telugu Desam Party office had an unusual visitor on Saturday. A woman, clutching her pale three-year-old son, Kasaiah -- who had a hole in his heart - had come to seek help from the party. Bharathi and her husband, Irmaiah, a daily wage earner told presspersons that their appeal for assistance had been turned down by the Chief Minister's Office three days ago. They had come from Chakarila village in Kanigiri mandal in Prakasam district a month ago. They had first gone to Care Hospital, which demanded Rs. 15,000 as advance. Unable to cough up that amount, they approached Gandhi Hospital, where the authorities asked for a recommendation letter.
