ELURU, DEC. 5. The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) State general secretary, P.V. Srinivas, on Sunday urged the State Government to adhere to the directives of the tribunal in recruitment of posts under the category of the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) Group-I. Addressing a press conference here, he warned that any move by the Government to dilute the tribunal's directives in this regard would be met with strong protests from the jobless youths. Recalling that the tribunal had directed the State Government to make 30 per cent of recruitments directly and 70 per cent through promotions, he criticised the previous TDP regime for imposing a blanket ban on direct recruitments, causing a lot of heartburn among the unemployed youths. Mr. Srinivas wanted the Government to include all the Group-I posts lying vacant from 1998 to 2004 in the latest notification issued by the State Government for recruitments through the APPSC. Recalling that the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, had made an election promise to fill up 2.5-lakh vacant posts in various Government departments in the event of his coming to power, the DYFI leader wanted Dr. Reddy to keep his word.
DSC candidates
Mr. Srinivas expressed serious concern over the plight of candidates who got through the District Selection Committee (DSC) screening tests for teacher posts in 2003. The recruitment process was stalled since 2003 due to delay on the part of the State Government in announcing the merit list, he said.
