THRISSUR, DEC. 5. The former president of the SNDP Yogam, K. K. Rahulan, has alleged that the proposal for `Hindu unity' mooted by the Yogam general secretary, Vellappally Natesan is a ploy to install the Siva of upper-caste Hindus in the minds of the followers of Sree Narayana Guru, the Dalits and the Backward Classes.
The proposal has been mooted by Mr. Natesan in a resolution approved at the 101th annual general body meeting of the Yogam held at Cherthala on Saturday.
Bid to weaken SNDP
Dr. Rahulan said Mr Natesan's attempt was to transform the SNDP movement into a weak appendage of the unity of caste Hindus.
"Sree Narayana Guru had built up the collectivity of the Backward Classes by waging intense struggles against the theory and practice of the `Chathurvarnyam' that entrenched the caste system in the country. Mr. Natesan is now trying to quell the flames of the social, cultural, spiritual, and educational revolutions that the Guru had launched through his initiatives like `Aruvippuram installation,' `Vaikkom Sathyagraham,' `All-religion meet."
Through his latest initiatives Mr Natesan had sabotaged the objective of the SNDP Yogam to reach power to the oppressed sections. The entire SNDP unions in the State should recognise the betrayal of Mr. Natesan and oppose it vehemently, Dr. Rahulan said.
