CHANDIGARH, DEC. 5. The Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation (HSIDC) has initiated the process to acquire about 6500 acres of land to set up new industrial estates at Bahadurgarh, Manesar-Phase II and III, Barhi-Phase II, Special Economic Zone in Gurgaon, Ambala-Chandigarh road and Yamunanagar. A HSIDC spokesman said the 5142 industrial plots covering an area of 2219 acres, which had been allotted by the HSIDC during the tenure of the present Government, would catalyse domestic and foreign investment of Rs 10,578.19 crore in the State and generate employment for about 2.64 lakh persons, both directly and indirectly. He said an area of 500 acres had been allotted to Maruti Udyog Limited in Industrial Model Township in Manesar for its new plant which would have the capacity to produce three lakh vehicles per annum. The other prominent companies which have been allotted land by the corporation during this period include Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India Private Limited, Suzuki Metal India Limited, Denso, Norcool, Mitsubhishi Electricals, Subbeam Steels Limited, Barco, Johnson Mathhey (India), Baxter India Limited, Stanley, Munjal Showa and Musashi Auto and Nerolac Paints. He said the Corporation had already set up two food parks at Kundli-Rai and Saha with the assistance of Central Government for the development of food processing industries. Two more such food parks were being set up at Narwana and Dabwali. The other prestigious projects being taken up by the Corporation included Gem and Jewellery Park at Gurgaon, wholesale fruit and vegetable market at Rai and multi-level parking at Gurgaon. UNI
