BANGALORE, DEC. 5. "We don't need this trophy... we want Cristiano Junior back" cried Sameer Naik, captain of Dempo after the strikers' death. The tension and scene at the Hosmat hospital, where Cristiano was rushed to, was palpable. Enraged fans vented their anger by breaking glass panes and authorities seemed helpless. The local players `gheraoed' the State football officials demanding why Cristiano was taken to Hosmat and not to Mallya, just across the road. Senior players spoke on what is in store for present day players. "`We will get back to our respective routines on the morrow, probably forgetting Cristiano's fate in a hurry, but the whole episode is an eye-opener to the safety and insurance of the entire football fraternity", said a senior player. The Dempo players were huddled together in a state of shock and disbelief. The body, which has been shifted to Victoria Hospital, will be taken to Goa after the post-mortem.
