Clear sky

There will be clear skies with early morning fog or mist on Monday. The minimum temperature will be around 14 degrees Celsius, according to the forest of the India Meteorological Department. On Sunday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 29.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 14 degrees Celsius. The airport recorded a maximum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 13.5 degrees. The relative humidity was 45 per cent in the city and 29 per cent at the airport.

Elected

Syed Zameeruddin Qadri has been elected president of the Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) of India in the recent All India Zonal Advisory Council meeting. The other office-bearers of the organisation are: Shujathullah Husaini (general secretary), Mukthar Ahmed Kotwal (organising secretary) and M.Sajid (public relations secretary).

Hernia camp

P.D. Hinduja Sindhi Hospital has organised a free hernia and thyroid camp from December 6 to 12 daily between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the hospital premises in Sampangiramnagar. Free consultation and advice by specialist surgeons will be given for hernia, thyroid swelling, haemorrhoids (piles), abdomen pain, gall stones, ulcers and tumours. Project fellow

The Bangalore University has invited applications for the post of Project Fellow under a UGC sanctioned project on "Impact of industrial effluents on the food fishes of Karnataka from polluted tanks and its effects on public health." The fellowship is Rs. 6,000 a month for three years. Candidates with a minimum qualification of first class master's degree in zoology or fisheries and within the age of 30 can apply on or before December 15. The applications should be marked by registered post to Bela Zutshi, Principal Investigator, Department of Zoology, Bangalore University, Jnanabharathi, Bangalore 560056.

Workshop

Podar Jumbo Kids, a pre-school, has organised a free workshop for teachers, a free workshop for parents on the art of parenting and a free puppet show for tiny tots.
