Kidnappers accused of murder, theft

BANGALORE, DEC. 5. The Rajajinagar Police have found the involvement of the three accused of kidnapping a five-year-old girl Pavitra recently, in a case of murder in the city.

The three, who were arrested recently, were said to be involved in a series of theft of television spare parts from several lodges in Mysore.

The city police on Sunday had rescued Pavithra, and arrested Raju Girish Magaji, Pradeep Kumar Tiwari, and Santhosh Kumar in connection with the abduction.

The police said the interrogation of the accused revealed their involvement in the murder of Mohammed Imran Pasha (20) in a lodge in Balepet on October 26.

They had allegedly kidnapped Mohammed and demanded a ransom of Rs. 20,000. When they did not get the ransom, the accused allegedly murdered Mohammed, the police said.

The accused, Raju, an electrician, along with other two, had stolen spare parts from 10 television sets of the lodges where they stayed.

They had even stolen three mobile phones, the police said.

Five held for murder

The Madiwala police have arrested five persons on charges of murdering a woman in Anuradha Layout in Hongasandra on December 1.

The police gave the names of the accused as Shrinivas (34), K.P. Ravindra (26), Shiva (24), all from Kodichikkanahalli, Jagadish (28) of Katriguppe, and Nagaraj (34) of Bilekahalli.

The accused, the police said, had murdered Bhavya (25) and had burnt her body.

In another case, the police have arrested four persons on charges of extortion and recovered two gold rings, five mobile phones and other stolen articles.

The police gave the names as Shivakumar (18) of Ropena Agrahara, Sharat Kumar (20), Ramesh (23), and Muniraj (23), all from Hongasandra.

Shop raided

The City Crime Branch (CCB) police on Saturday arrested 13 persons on charges of gambling from a shop in Palace Guttahalli in Vyalikaval Police Station limits and recovered Rs. 1 lakh in cash and other articles.

The police identified the accused as Ramamurthy (28), Ramesh (33), Venkatesh (26), Shrinivas (43), G.V. Patil (45), Sheshadri (27), Krishnamurth (30), Muralidhar (38), Narasimha (35), Ashokraj (32), Nagaraj (25), Srinivas (45) and Jagadish (26).
