MAHABUBNAGAR, DEC.5. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, today took exception to the Telanagana Rashtra Samithi president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao's statement that it would be a fight to the finish if statehood was not granted to Telangana. Fielding questions from presspersons near Lingo Tam village, Dr. Reddy said persons in positions of power should be careful with their language. "I don't think it is proper to use such language." The Chief Minister said the UPA had taken a decision on the issue but Mr. Chandrasekhar was free to interpret it to suit his convenience. In Hyderabad, the BJP national secretary, B. Dattatreya, demanded that the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, forthwith drop Mr. Chandrasekahar Rao, from the Cabinet. In a statement, Mr. Dattatreya said Mr.Rao had taken oath that he would not provoke violence or create animosity among any section of people. But by taking this stand he had lost the right to continue as Minister.
TRS hits back
The TRS reacted strongly to Mr. Dattatreya's statement. In a statement, the TRS leaders, S. Madusudhanachary, K. Yadagiri Reddy and B.L. Satish Mahajan, said the stand taken by Mr. Dattatreya indicated his "anti-Telangana'' sentiment. They asserted that "democratic feelings of the people of Telangana would prevail and the State would be certainly formed." At a separate press conference, the BJP leaders -- S V Seshagiri Rao and K Laxman - termed the Minister's remarks "improper.''
