Three women held at airport

Authorities at the Begumpet airport caught three women who were about to board a flight to Dubai on fake Emigration Check Not Required (ECNR) stamps on Saturday.

The three are -- B. Bhulakshmi of Kakinada, K. Laxmi Parvathi and Vijaya, both from West Godavari district. Officials caught them upon closer scrutiny of their passports.

It was learnt that all were working as domestic servants. The police are investigating as to how they managed to get the fake stamp endorsed.

Gold chains snatched

Two motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched two gold chains weighing three tolas from S. Venu Raghava Goud under the Chikkadpally police station limits on Saturday evening.

Mr. Goud, a resident of Chikkadpally, was proceeding towards Narayanguda on his motorcycle from YMCA. As he reached Radha Krishna Bakery, the culprits rammed into his two-wheeler.

Next, they abused Mr. Goud and subsequently snatched his chain.

Cheating case registered

The Punjagutta police registered a cheating case against Pavan Kumar after he allegedly took Rs. 3 lakhs from at least nine persons promising them to get a visa to the U.K, but failed to keep up his word. In his complaint, D. Srinivasa Rao, a native of Visakhapatnam, stated that he had given Rs. 40,000 to the accused.He neither got the visa nor was willing to repay the money.

House burgled

Miscreants broke into the house of the Office Superintendent of City Armed Reserve (CAR), Chiranjeevi, at Goshamahal and decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs. 80,000 on Friday night. The inmates were away when the crime was committed.

Two held; ID liquor seized

The Central Cone Task Force team arrested two persons and seized 600 packets of illicitly distilled liquor from their possession. The accused -- L. Kiran Singh of Jummerath Bazar and K. Paramesh of Malkajgiri -- were intercepted at Ranigunj and the contraband seized. The scooter on which they were moving was also seized.
