KOCHI, DEC. 6. Traders who had paid a total of Rs. 33 lakhs as deposit for 90 shops in the Agricultural Urban Wholesale Market, Maradu, are on the warpath, alleging that tenders have been invited to allot the shops afresh. Addressing mediapersons here today, the president of the Maradu Market Traders' Association T.H. Nazar said the invitation of fresh bids was illegal. "We had paid up to Rs. 50,000 as deposit for the big shops and Rs. 25,000 for the small ones. We also carried out repair works in the shops and painted the shutters. The traders were allotted numbers for the shops," he said. An announcement was made through newspapers on Sunday that fresh tenders have been invited for allotting the shops. Memoranda would soon be sent to the Chief Minister and the Agriculture Minister on the issue, Mr. Nazar said.
