December 6

Sir, — The Samajwadi Party MPs staged a walkout in Parliament over the Babri Masjid demolition on Monday. Even after 12 years, December 6 is observed as Black Day and there are nationwide demonstrations.

But why does no one think of the victims of the backlash? No political party ever commiserates with those families that lost their dear ones in the Mumbai bomb blasts and the riots that followed the demolition.

Tirumal Mundargi,
Gulbarga, Karnataka

* * *

Sir, — It was painful to read the statement of the BJP leader, Kalyan Singh, that the demolition was an act of god. Ironically, he and other so-called believers of Lord Ram display such intolerance in the name of one who advocated peaceful co-existence and tolerance. Lord Ram, the maryada purushotham that he was, would never have tolerated the destruction of a place of worship in His name.

S. Jizan Meera Sahib,
Kadayanallur, T.N.
