CUDDALORE, DEC. 7. Trade, transport and service organisations in Vriddhachalam have called for a bandh tomorrow (December 8) to push the State Government to construct a new bridge across the Manimukhta. The Vriddhachalam Town Development Council, which met on Monday, said the collapse of the bridge had put the people to great hardship. Therefore, o urge the Government to take immediate steps to construct a causeway and a new bridge, it had been decided to observe a bandh from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow. It is said shops would remain closed, and autorickshaws and private buses would be off the roads. It was also decided to stage a hunger-strike at the Palakkarai junction and on Bazaar Street.
