PONDICHERRY, DEC. 7. The Local Administration Minister, A. Elumalai, said here today that wages of part time workers in municipalities and commune panchayats would be increased. Those working more than three hours a day would get Rs. 2181, as against the current salary of Rs. 2123. Similarly, part time workers working for less than three hours would be paid Rs. 1635 retrospectively from July, against the current wage of Rs. 1592, he said. The increase in wages would be effected retrospectively from July, Mr. Elumalai said.
