Police, naxals exchange fire
KHAMMAM,
DEC. 7.
The police and the Venu Dalam of the CPI (ML-Praja Pratighatana) exchanged fire near Regalla village in Kothagudem sub-division today evening.
However, there were no casualties, according to the Superintendent of Police, Bhavana Saxena.
Police parties combing the area ran into the dalam, which was camping in the village, resulting in the exchange of fire. The police had taken up combing following reports that extremist outfits were indulging in extortion.
Maoist surrenders
Our Visakhapatnam reporter adds:
A deputy commander of the Konalova squad of the CPI (Maoist), Korrapu Pothuraju alias Ramana (20), surrendered before the Visakhapatnam Superintendent of Police (Rural), Sanjay Kumar Jain.
Ramana, of Antada in Koyyuru mandal, was a labourer before he joined the Galikonda squad in 2003.
