BANGALORE, DEC. 7. The BJP leaders today tried to play down the utterances of the Shimoga MP and former Chief Minister, S. Bangarappa. While D.H. Shankaramurthy, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, was forthcoming on the issue, his counterpart in the Legislative Assembly, B.S. Yediyurappa, took the stand that it was a matter best left to the national leadership of the party. The party's State unit president, Jagadish Shettar, said he did not know what was in the mind of Mr. Bangarappa. Unless he met him, nothing could be said about his statements. Mr. Shankaramurthy said Mr. Bangarappa had expressed his opinion on the leadership issue of the party's State unit. The party president, L.K. Advani, would hear his grievances against Mr. Shettar, he said. Mr. Shankaramurthy said Mr. Bangarappa had not been sidelined.
