CPI(M) pre-meet campaign begins today

VIJAYAWADA, DEC. 7. With dates for commencement of the party's district committee conference fast approaching, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) will launch an extensive campaign from Wednesday to educate people about the prominence of the conference and seek their cooperation in making it a big success.

Accordingly, the CPI (M) will conduct padayatras, cycle rallies and cultural programmes besides putting up posters and banners and distributing pamphlets from Wednesday to December 11, a day before the conference beginning December 12. The party's four-day campaign will also focus on the delay on the part of the Congress Government in fulfilling its election promises besides the way it has been following the policies adopted by the previous TDP regime.

The party will hold a rally between Swaraj Maidan and Gandhi Municipal High School to mark the commencement of the conference on December 12, which will be followed by delegates' discussions on December 13 and 14. The CPI (M) city committee secretary, Ch. Babu Rao, said the party had constituted various sub-committees to oversee arrangements for the conference. Over 300 delegates from the district were expected for the meet.
