NEW DELHI, DEC. 7. A law amending the Patents Act will be introduced later this month. The Commerce and Industry Minister, Kamal Nath, said this when a six member Swiss delegation, led by the Head of Bilateral Economic Relations Jorg Al Reding, met him here today. The assertion comes soon after the Left parties once again expressed their concern over the proposal to amend the patents legislation to meet the January 1, 2005 deadline for introducing the new product patents regime. The proposed amendment will bring India within the ambit of the new regime stipulated in the trade-related intellectual property rights agreement of the World Trade Organisation
