Bomb-like objects found along rail tracks

By Our Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH, DEC.7. The Army authorities have clarified that the 12 bomb- like objects, which were found by a combined patrolling team of the GRP, the Haryana Police and the Railway track staff along a railway track between Dabwali railway station and Bading Khera in Sirsa district in the early hours of the day, are in fact smoke grenades and not live bombs.

While stating this at a press conference in Dabwali today, the Superintendent of Police Sirsa, H.S.Doon, said that explosive experts at the Bathinda cantonment were consulted soon after the bomb-like objects were found.

Major Kiran Acharya had specially come from Bathinda Cantt. to investigate the matter and he pointed out that such smoke grenades were fired from tanks to mislead the enemy. The Army would look into the matter to ascertain the causes leading to the recovery of these smoke grenades from such a place. Stern action would be taken against those found guilty, he said.
