Hat-trick by Honest Raj

ANNAMALAI NAGAR, DEC. 7. A fine hat-trick by Honest Raj helped Bharathidasan University trounce Sri Krishna Devaraya University 8-0 and enter the pre-quarterfinals of the south zone inter-university (men) hockey tournament at Annamalai University ground here on Tuesday.

Mahatma Gandhi University also posted an impressive 5-1 victory over Kuvempu University to enter the pre-quarterfinals.

Bharathidasan 8 (Honesh Raj 3- hat-trick, Rajagopal 2, Srinivasan, Arasu, Jolly Vasan) bt Sri Krishna Devaraya 0; Calicut 3 (Haridas 2, Suraj Babu) bt Osmania 2 (Shafiuddin, Abrar Hussain).

Mahatma Gandhi University 5 (B.K. Lingaraj, Malvin, Robin 2, Radhakrishnan) bt Kuvempu 1 (Farshed); Manonmaniam Sundaranar 2 (D. Franklin, Prabakaran) bt Pondicherry 1 (T. Rajaram).

Alagappa 6 (Senthilkumar 2, R. Premkumar, R. Saravanan, Mohan, Gopinath) bt Kakathiya 5 (Kareem 2, Inderjit Singh 2, Pradeep) via tie-breaker, full time 2-2.

Kerala 4 (Baju Kumar, Nitin Bose, Nooramin, Arun Jacob) bt Sri Venkateswara 1 (Chowdary Babu) via tie-breaker, full time 0-0.
