THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC. 7. The State Human Rights Commission has asked the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) to pay Rs.25,000 as interim compensation to the parents of the Southern Star photographer Raj Manjadi who died in an accident in the city on the night of February 17. The order was passed by the Commission chairman, V.P. Mohan Kumar. Raj's scooter had fallen into an open roadside trench at Vijayamohini Junction, opposite the Pangode L.P. School. Raj, who sustained severe head injuries, died on the spot. The concrete trench had been constructed by the KSEB as part of cabling work and the slab had been removed. There was no warning sign for motorists at the spot except four iron rods around the trench, which were not visible in the dark.
