BANGALORE, DEC. 7. The torso of a man aged around 30 was found in the Basavanagar tank in Mahadevapura police station limits on Tuesday. The police suspect that after murdering the man, his assailants threw the torso into the tank. As the body was highly decomposed, the police feel the murder was committed at least four days ago. Efforts are on to establish the identity of the dead, the police said. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Shiva Kumar, visited the spot. The Mahadevapura police have registered a case.
House, shop burgled
Burglars broke into the house of Satish in Sriramapuram police station limits on Tuesday and took away Rs. 10,000 in cash and gold ornaments worth Rs. 70,000. The police said the theft took place at Satish's house on 2nd Main Road, Okalipuram, after he went to work around 8 a.m. The Sriramapuram police have registered a case. Burglars broke into a hardware shop in City Market police station limits on Monday night and took away Rs. 80,000 in cash. Jitendra Botra, owner of the shop which is located on MRR Lane, told the police that the burglars had entered his shop by breaking open the lock of a rolling shutter. The burglary came to light when he opened the shop on Tuesday morning.
Computers stolen
Eight computers and other electronic equipment were stolen from an Internet browsing centre in Subramanyapura police station limits on Tuesday. In a complaint, K.S. Chetan Kumar, owner of the centre, said the burglars had entered his shop by breaking open the locks of the rolling shutters.
Bar employees held
The City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested four employees of a bar on Residency Road on charges of selling liquor beyond the time permitted. They have recovered Rs. 48,000 in cash and 161 liquor bottles. The police gave the names of those arrested as Monnappa (29) of K.R. Puram, Pandian (43), Ramesh (21) and Bharati Raj (18).
Man dies in accident
Yeshwant (29) of Kaigondanahalli, an employee of a government printing press, was killed when a BMTC (Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation) bus hit the motorcycle he was riding near Agara lake in Adugodi traffic police station limits on Monday evening.
Gambling charge
On Monday, the CCB police arrested six persons on charges of gambling near a liquor shop in Kodgehalli in Vidyaranyapura police station limits and recovered Rs. 10,345 in cash and other articles. The police gave the names of the accused as Shankar (41), Vasant (30), Keshav (25), Ravi (25), Harish (22) and Vijendra (22).
