NEW DELHI, DEC. 7. Three persons have been arrested by the South Delhi police for allegedly killing a 24-year-old man whose body was found at Mehrauli in South Delhi on December 2. The main accused apparently wanted to marry the wife of the deceased, who had earlier rejected his proposal, after eliminating her husband. According to the police, the body was found in a rain-water pit at Bhati mines in Mehrauli around 4 p.m. on December 2. It had been covered with mud and stones. When the police searched the body, they found a parking slip, bearing No. 1863, and a motorcycle key in the jacket's pocket. With the help of the number, the police managed to trace the motorcycle (registration No. DL-4S-AQ-1863) registered in the name of one Niraj Malik. But, it turned out that the actual owner of the motorcycle was Mirajul, the deceased, who had got the motorcycle financed on Niraj's name. Mirajul used to sell artificial jewellery on a roadside vend at Central Market in Lajpat Nagar, South Delhi. Following further investigations, the police arrested Kewal Kumar Yadav (24), a resident of Srinivaspuri in South Delhi. He was the last person to be seen with Mirajul. At his instance, the police also arrested Manoj Kumar Yadav (19) and Murari Yadav (20). The autorickshaw, which was allegedly used in the crime, has also been recovered. During interrogation, Kewal, an autorickshaw driver, told the police that he knew Mirajul and often visited his house. There, he happened to meet his wife, Nasreen alias Reena, and developed a fascination for her. He tried to get friendly with her. But, Nasreen did not encourage his advances and also tied a "rakhi" on his hand. However, Kewal became desperate and decided to eliminate Mirajul hoping that once he was "out of the way", Nasreen would get ready to marry him. Aware that Mirajul was a womaniser, he decided to lure him into a trap on the pretext of taking him to a young girl. He also roped in Manoj, an autorickshaw driver, and Murari, a parking attendant, to execute the plan. On November 30, as per plan, Kewal called Mirajul to an autorickshaw stand in Amar Colony, South Delhi, around 8-45 p.m. He told him that he was going to visit a woman in Mehrauli along with his two friends. Mirajul decided to accompany them. After about an hour, when the foursome reached a desolate stretch near Bhati Mines, Kewal caught hold of Mirajul and, with the help of Manoj and Murari, strangled him.
