Acting on a tip-off that a couple indulging in snatchings would come to Greater Kailash to commit crime, the police laid a trap and arrested them. They identified themselves as Rakesh and his wife, Mamta, both residents of Ghaziabad. During interrogation, they purportedly disclosed that they worked for an auto-lifter, Anil Chauhan. The police said the couple were involved in at least eight snatching cases. Efforts are on to recover the goods stolen by them.

The accused have been identified as Naresh Verma, Vinay Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Mahipal, Parminder Singh, Avtar Singh, Ajay and another person by the same name. The police said all the accused are residents of Gandhi Nagar.
Suicide by woman
According to the police, Mahendri, wife of Sher Singh, a resident of G-Block in Sonia Vihar, doused herself with kerosene oil in her house around 2-30 p.m. She died on the spot. Sher Singh, who worked for the Delhi Metro, was not in the house at the time of the incident. Preliminary investigations revealed that Mahendri was passing through a phase of depression after her third child had died just after birth about three months ago. Khajuri Khas police have registered a case and are investigating further.
