Partly cloudy sky forecast

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, DEC. 7.DEC. 7.DEC. 7 The Capital will wake up to a misty morning on Wednesday. According to the weatherman, it would be a partly cloudy sky and the minimum temperature would be around 8 degrees Celsius.

The maximum and the minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Tuesday were 24.0 degrees Celsius and 8.4 degrees Celsius respectively. At Palam, the maximum temperature recorded was 24.1 degrees Celsius and the minimum 8.6 degrees Celsius. The maximum relative humidity recorded at Safdarjung and Palam was 92 and 81 per cent respectively, while both places recorded 39 per cent of minimum humidity.

Couple held

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, DEC. 7.DEC. 7.DEC. 7 A couple allegedly involved in cases of chain and mobile phone snatching has been arrested from Greater Kailash in South Delhi. A stolen vehicle and a mobile phone were allegedly recovered from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off that a couple indulging in snatchings would come to Greater Kailash to commit crime, the police laid a trap and arrested them. They identified themselves as Rakesh and his wife, Mamta, both residents of Ghaziabad. During interrogation, they purportedly disclosed that they worked for an auto-lifter, Anil Chauhan.

The police said the couple were involved in at least eight snatching cases. Efforts are on to recover the goods stolen by them.

8 arrested

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, DEC. 7.DEC. 7.DEC. 7 Eight people have been arrested from a park at Multani Mohalla in East Delhi on charges of gambling. The police recovered Rs. 17,000 of stake money from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Naresh Verma, Vinay Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Mahipal, Parminder Singh, Avtar Singh, Ajay and another person by the same name. The police said all the accused are residents of Gandhi Nagar.

Suicide by woman

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, DEC. 7.DEC. 7.DEC. 7 A 40-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by setting herself afire in her house at Khajuri Khas in North-East Delhi today.

According to the police, Mahendri, wife of Sher Singh, a resident of G-Block in Sonia Vihar, doused herself with kerosene oil in her house around 2-30 p.m. She died on the spot. Sher Singh, who worked for the Delhi Metro, was not in the house at the time of the incident.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Mahendri was passing through a phase of depression after her third child had died just after birth about three months ago.

Khajuri Khas police have registered a case and are investigating further.
