This Day That Age
The Deputy Speaker, Mr. M. Ananthasayanam Iyengar, told the Lok Sabha on December 8 that he could not understand "non-vegetarian" analogies. He made this remark when the Deputy Leader of the Communist group, Prof. Hiren Mukherjee, while speaking on the Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) Bill declared that the Home Minister had produced something which was "neither fish nor flesh." Prof. Mukherjee was unable to furnish a "vegetarian" analogy, but hoped that the Home Minister, having practised before non-vegetarian English Judges, would be able to follow him.
