Letters to the Editor
Sir, Lessons need to be learnt from the death of the Brazilian soccer player, Cristiano Junior, during the finals of the recent Federation Cup in Bangalore. The organisers should ensure that all concerned sportspersons, referees, volunteers are trained in basic life support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Equipment such as automatic external defibrillators should be kept ready for use. Availability of trained persons and equipment can save a victim of sudden cardiac arrest. Survival depends upon the time between the cardiac arrest and the initiation of resuscitation.
