NEW DELHI, DEC. 8. Sunil Shastri, a former general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, has resigned from the primary membership of the party. He met the party president, L.K. Advani, today and submitted his resignation letter to him. Son of the former Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, he left the Congress to join the BJP in 1998. When Jana Krishnamurthy was the BJP president he became the general secretary and party spokesperson. In August, Mr. Shastri floated a non-political platform, Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, to take up social issues. Mr. Shastri was not willing today to divulge what he would do next. He plans to announce his future plan formally at a press conference here on December 10.
