Making a point through pictures

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, DEC. 8. A three-day photo and cartoons exhibition on irrigation projects was inaugurated by the Finance Minister, K. Rosaiah, at the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) building on the Assembly premises on Wednesday.

The exhibition carried photographs of foundation-stone-laying ceremonies for irrigation projects which failed to take off during the TDP regime. Interesting cartoons depicting the "hurdles" created for irrigation projects by the TDP and its president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, were also displayed.

Speaking to reporters later, Mr. Rosaiah said the Government had offered to initiate a discussion on the projects and tendering system much before the current session of Assmebly began but the TDP stalled the proceedings of the House on Tuesday alleging they were faulty. He wanted Assembly to discuss the subject in a dignified manner. Mr. Rosaiah recalled that successive Congress Governments had taken up projects with foresight. The Vengal Rao Government had installed a 900 MW hydel generation unit at Srisailam though there was no demand.
