CHENNAI, DEC. 8. One of the doyens of Telugu cinema in the 1950s and 60s, C.S. Rao, died of heart attack at a private hospital here this morning, reports UNI. According to his wife, Telugu and Tamil actress of yesteryear, Rajasulochana, Mr. Rao was admitted to the hospital a fortnight ago when he suffered a paralytic stroke. Mr. Rao was 81. He is also survived by two daughters. Mr. Rao was also the son of another doyen of Telugu cinema, director C Pulliah. After learning the nuances of wielding the megaphone under his father with whom he had jointly directed the much appreciated mythological film "Lava Kusa'' in the early 60s, Mr Rao had himself directed more than 50 films. Some of the films which had won him accolades besides being big box office successes include, "Pona Machaan Thirumbivandaan'' in Tamil, "Santhinivasam,'' "Manchi Manasuku Manchi Rojulu,'' "Desoddharakulu'' and "Kshetrayya' in Telugu. Mr. Rao's directorial ventures also include films of celebrity producers U Vishweswaraya and D Rama Naidu. _UNI Our Hyderabad Staff Reporter adds: In his condolence message, the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, praised the contributions of Rao. Personalities in the Telugu tinsel world condoled the death and paid tributes to him.
