`Utsavabali' begins at Sabarimala temple
PATHANAMTHITTA,
DEC. 8
. `Utsavabali,' the most auspicious ritual connected with the 10-day-long Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple festival, began here today with devotional fervour.
Thousands of devotees thronged the Sannidhanam to witness the `bali' offered to Lord Ayyappa.
The Melsanthi, V. Muraleedharan Nampoothiri, lit the lamps with fire brought from the sanctum sanctorum.
`Vilakkinezhunnallipu' will be held at the temple on December 11. `Pallivetta' will be held on the night of December 15 at Saramkuthy. The festival will come to a close on December 16 with the `arattu' of the Ayyappa idol in the Pampa.
`Utsavabali' will continue till December 15. - UNI
