Detained

ATHENS, DEC. 8. Police detained 83 illegal immigrants hiding in the trailer of a truck near Greece's border with Turkey, and arrested three persons suspected of smuggling the group into the country, authorities said on Wednesday.

The immigrants — 70 from Pakistan, seven from Bangladesh, three from India, one from Afghanistan and one from Mauritius — were found on a road near the border town of Didimoticho, about 960 km northeast of here. — AP
