PONDICHERRY, DEC. 9. The police have registered a case against the chairman of the PNL Nidhi Limited here on a complaint from a depositor that the chairman had "misappropriated and cheated" him of Rs. 5 lakhs. The Senior Superintendent of Police, Kannan Jegadeesan, said here today that Mr. Boothathan, a resident of Tiruvenainallooor village in Tamil Nadu,had complained on December 7 that he had deposited the Rs. 5 lakh in the nidhi on April 5, but the company had stopped doing business from September this year. He had thereby been cheated of his money. Police had registered a case under section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and also under section 409 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered. The release said that the police had initiated investigation into the case.
