`FIs representation on RIL board not discussed with FM'
NEW DELHI,
DEC. 9.
Reliance Industries today said that the issue of a place for financial institutions on its board was not discussed by the Chairman and Managing Director, Mukesh Ambani, when he met the Finance Minister, P. Chidambaram, last Saturday.
A Reliance spokesperson said a categoric "no'' when asked if the issue came up for discussion when Mr. Mukesh met Mr. Chidambaram at the latter's residence. Responding to queries, he told PTI that there was no meeting last week between Mr. Mukesh and the Chairman of Life Insurance Corporation, which holds about 4.4 per cent equity in RIL.
"No such meeting has taken place,'' he said to a query whether the LIC chief and the RIL CMD had talks last week and if the issue of nomination of FIs came up during the discussion. PTI
