BHOPAL, DEC. 9. The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Babulal Gaur, today said that Indian culture symbolises the spirit of secularism and respect for all religions. Mr. Gaur was addressing a select gathering after presenting awards to the winners of a special photography contest on Simhastha-2004. The awardees were selected through a competition organised by the State Public Relations Department. The Chief Minister also inaugurated a two-day photo exhibition to mark the occasion. The Chief Minister said that that the photographers have been able to capture the rarest of rare moments and events linked with Simhastha -- the world's largest religious congregation showcasing Indian culture, religion and ethos. He lauded the vision and skills of the photographers saying that they have succeeded in recreating the atmosphere of Simhastha. Mr. Gaur congratulated the winners and presented cash awards, citations and mementos to them. He also lauded the Public Relations Department for the coverage of Simhastha. The Chief Minister presented the first prize of Rs. 50,000 in professional category to Raj Patidar, second prize of Rs 35,000 to Ashraf and third prize of Rs. 25,000 to Pranav Pradhan. In the amateur category, the first prize of Rs. 25,000 went to Jitendra Soni, second prize of Rs. 15,000 to Sudhir Saxena and third prize of Rs. 10,000 to Praveen Jain. Consolation prizes were also presented in both categories. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also launched a website of the Public Relations Department. The address is www.mpnewsarch.org. Designed under the News Archive System the website would carry news items about Madhya Pradesh published in different newspapers. The new website has been linked to existing Public Relations Department's website www.mpinfo.org. The Chief Minister watched portions of a film produced by Madhya Pradesh Madhyam on the welfare activities of the State Government. He also released a CD on Simhastha as well as a coffee-table book on Simhastha 2004 and three publications of the Public Relations Department - "Madhya Pradesh Naye Kshitij Ki Aur", "Madhya Pradesh Pahachan Ki Nai Ibarat" and "Badalti Duniya Ke Saath Madhya Pradesh". At the outset, the Commissioner, Public Relations, Aruna Sharma gave a brief account about the Simhastha photography contest and a short film on Madhya Pradesh.
